Gas Fireplaces for Those Prone to Electric Outages
I have had Gas Fireplaces insert installed in my old wood fireplace in my home. I am glad that I made the decision to do so because it has kept my family warm the few times that we lost electricity due to power outages and severe storms. The gas fireplace does not require electricity in order to turn on. One year we had a power outage that lasted five days with below freezing temperatures outside. If it wasn't for the gas fireplace we would not have been able to stay in our home. For this reason, I recommend a gas fireplace to anyone who lives in an area that is prone to having frequent electricity outages. When we had our gas fireplace insert installed into our pre-existing fireplace, it was a simple installation and required little effort but it did need to be done by a professional because of the propane tank and hardware.
